Premium scale models of iconic movies like Star Wars is never a thing for mass production toy company like Hasbro, but in recent years, things have took a change for the better, starting with the Black series collectible figures. Granted, they don’t look anything like Hot Toys’, but it is great in bang-of-buck point-of-view. Now, Hasbro is taking this premium endeavor further with a new crowdfunding-style platform called HasLab where premium collectibles will be made with the support of fans. It works like any crowdfunding platform; fans back the product and if it meet the minimum number of backers within the listed deadline, Hasbro will produce the product. The major difference here with other crowdfunding site is, Hasbro won’t run away with your money.
The maiden product to kick off this new initiative is the Star Wars Vintage Collection Jabba’s Sail Barge. At 3¾ this 4 feet 1-inch (125 centimeters) long and 13.89 lbs (6.3 kilograms) ultimate collectible stretches will come with a 3.75 scale figure of Jabba the Hut and features details modeled after Lucasfilm digital archives and photos from the 1982 movie set. You can expect nothing less than movie-accurate details, along with features like removable panels, soft cloth sails, “premium decor”, and rounding up with a Kenner-era inspired vintage packing. And it better be because, Hasbro is asking $499.99 in return for this notorious vehicle of the infamous crime lord of the Star Wars universe and that’s not it; Hasbro needs at least 5,000 backers in order to bring this to life.
If you are keen, you can hit up HasLab to back Star Wars Vintage Collection Jabba’s Sail Barge and keep your fingers crossed that enough people will back it before the campaign closes at 11:59 EST on April 3, 2018. I would love to, if you ask me, but 500 bucks is kind of steep. I know it is huge and it will be epic, but still, I have consider tax and shipping to get it to where I am now.
