BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY and BMW i Vision AMBY

BMW Motorrad aka BMW Motorcycles is pitching two interesting electric two-wheelers called BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY and a high-speed pedelec bicycle, BMW i Vision AMBY. AMBY, in case anyone’s wondering, stands for “Adaptive Mobility”.

In addition, the automaker/motorcycle maker has also revealed new micromobility concepts in partnership with CUBE and SoFlow. The micromobility concepts include CUBE Concept Dynamic Cargo, BMW-inspired, state-of-the-art, compact cargo bike concept, and SoFlow Concept CLEVER COMMUTE, an e-scooter (basically, standup electric scooter) – BMW-inspired, of course – that promised excellent riding stability.

As far as BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY and BMW i Vision AMBY are concerned, they are both electric-powered with three speeds for different types of road. The electric enables up to 25 km/h (15.5 mph) on bicycle lanes, up to 45 km/h (28 mph) on city-center roads and up to 60 km/h (37 mph) on multi-lane motor roads.

Obviously, a helmet, as well as insurance license plates and relevant driving license will be required if you are going to leverage on higher speeds.

While users of the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY accelerates by twisting the throttle grip and has motorcycle-style footpegs, the BMW i Vision AMBY will require constant pedaling in order to enjoy the benefit of pedal assist from its electric drive.

The BMW i Vision AMBY is outfitted with a 2,000 Wh in the center of the frame, offering up to 300 km (186 miles) range and recharges in just three hours. Meanwhile, the capacity of the battery on the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY is not specified, but we were told that it is expected to have about a 110 km (68 miles) range.

One of the key highlights of BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY and BMW i Vision AMBY is geofencing technology. Instead of having the rider choosing the riding mode, geofencing technology in conjunction with the detailed HERE map service, will automatically select the speed mode based on the road the rider is on and the corresponding insurance cover.

Both the BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY and BMW i Vision AMBY are concepts with an unknown fate, and they seem to be the same for the CUBE and SoFlow. We could be wrong though.
