After proving that fuel cell EVs’ range, Hyundai seems to have gone quiet in FC development. Well, at least we did not hear anything major. But it is far from “dead” if that’s what you are thinking. Hyundai fuel cell ambition is very much alive and in progress, and it has this to show this past week: Hyundai NEXO Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle.

The original NEXO was the first hydrogen SUV built from the ground up as an FCEV—and yes, it actually went on sale. Now Hyundai’s back with a second-gen model that quietly flexes on everything from tech to towing.
The new NEXO delivers 150 kW from its motor (201 hp), paired with an 80 kW battery and a 6.69 kg (14.75 lb) hydrogen tank. Hyundai is aiming for over 700 km (435 miles) of range from a five-minute top-up. Acceleration to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 7.8 seconds.
At 4,750 mm long (187 inches), 1,865 mm wide (73.4 inches), and up to 1,673 mm tall (65.9 inches with roof rack), it’s solidly in midsize SUV territory. Cargo space maxes out at 993 liters (35 cubic feet), or in Hyundai units, four golf bags.
With “Art of Steel” styling, fingerprint ID, speed-linked ambient lighting, and Bang & Olufsen audio, NEXO mixes clean energy with quiet swagger. And yes, towing is now part of the package.
