IKEA VAPPEBY range has just expanded to include a new waterproof speaker, the IKEA VAPPEBY Portable Bluetooth Speaker. This being a Bluetooth speaker, it can connect to your phone, computer, or any other Bluetooth-enable source to stream audio.
It is not clear what Bluetooth version the new VAPPEBY is equipped with. Like many Bluetooth speakers out there, it can be paired with another same speaker to create stereo sound.
IKEA did not specify the driver under the hood but we do know it has a rechargeable battery that offers up to 80 hours of total playtime at 50% volume and that the battery is rechargeable via the USB-C port. The required USB-C cable and USB power adapter are not included.
It is IP67 rated for dust and water-resistant. Regarding the latter, it is said that the IKEA VAPPEBY Portable Bluetooth Speaker can endure being submerged in water for up to 30 minutes. Though at what depth is not clear.
The speaker is super compact, measuring just 3” tall, 2” deep, and 3” wide (7.62 x 5.08 x 7.62 cm) and it comes with a lanyard hole with a wristlet for hanging the device.
The IKEA VAPPEBY Portable Bluetooth Speaker was revealed in mid-March and it is now available in a choice of black, yellow, and red for just US$14.99.
