Infinix Concept Phone 2021 MWC 2021

You may not heard of Transsion. However, if you are in certain Africa countries, you may be familiar with a smartphone brand called Tecno. Tecno, along with itel, are smartphone brands under Transsion. Tecno is huge in Africa, btw.

Transsion has a relatively new brand called Infinix which has revealed a concept phone at the recently opened MWC 2021. At a glance, Infinix Concept Phone 2021, looks any of today’s smartphones, but however, it is around the back and what’s under the hood – specifically the charging feature, that makes it the concept phone.

Out-of-the-box, it has a, wait for it… 160 W gallium nitrate (GaN) charging brick. 160! with GaN technology. Imagine that! Armed with the capability of 160 W charging, the phone is capable of getting its 4,000 mAh battery from 0 to 100% in 10 minutes.

In addition to wired charging, the phone also supports a blazing fast 50 W wireless charging.

The mind-blowing fast charging capability, along with the 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED display may point to it as a flagship device. However, it is not quite. Powering the device is not the best chip available; it is a MediaTek Helio G95 4G SoC, backed by 8 GB RAM and 128 GB ROM. No details were provided for the memory types.

On the imaging department, Infinix Concept Phone 2021 is equipped with a 32 MP front-facing camera while the back has a tri-camera setup composed of a 64 MP main snapper, an 8 MP 5x periscope telephoto camera and an 8 MP ultra wide-angle camera.

Beyond the specs, the device also boasts a unique design feature on the back of the phone, a so-called color changing feature.

This color changing technology comes in handy in giving visuals of the phone status such as when there is an incoming, it will change from gray to faint blue and it will flashes green when it is being charged.

It works kind of like the Samsung LED case we reviewed a while back. The differences are, it is integrated into the phone itself and it isn’t LED. The color changing effect is able by electrochromic and electroluminescence technology. Nothing to expect from this phone since, after all, it is a concept phone. But it is show of Infinix’s plan.
