The worst nightmare when hitting up number 2 is, naturally, the odor. Granted that not all poop smells, but still, we’re all conscious. While there are options to get rid, or at least minimize, the smell before your kids take the dive into the pool, Wisconsin-based toilet specialist Kohler has taken a more integrated and “techier” approach by deodorizing the foul smell before it could invade the rest of the bathroom. The product in question, aptly called Purefresh Toilet Seat, is a direct replacement for your throne. It’s in-sear deodorizer runs off D batteries and boast carbon filters and scent packs to aid in eradicate the poop smell. The toilet seat automatically turns on when you seat on it and proactively remove the smell by pulling it through the carbon filter and over the scent pack, thus masking whatever nasty odor that might be building up.

The concept is dead simple. It works pretty much like in-car air fresheners. The carbon filter and scent pack are replacement, naturally. The latter is offered in a choice of olfactory bathroom senses: garden waterfall, fresh laundry, and avocado spa. For $117 and up, you can kiss aerosol cans, scented candles, and even matches, goodbye. In addition to eliminating the musky issue, Kohler Purefresh Toilet Seat also features built-in LED so those who have the habit of doing their business in the dark won’t have to do so in complete darkness. Being a Kohler, Purefresh Toilet Seat also comes standard with Kohler’s Grip-Tight bumpers, quick-release hinges, quick-attach hardware for quick installation, and quiet-close technology. At the time of this writing, two models are available to suit round and elongated toilet, priced at $117 and $119.95, respectively. Refill scent packs cost $8.95 per pack, while carbon filter retails for $7.95 each.
