Kymera, one of the earliest companies to introduce electric-powered bodyboard, has some new and pretty exciting products lined up, including a jet ski-like personal watercraft called K-X2, a kayak and a surf board – all electric-powered, of course. Among the three, I must say the K-X2 is the most interesting contraption. It is not quite a jet ski and yet feels like it is one.
One key difference between K-X2 and jet ski is, the former is very compact and it is designed to be split into upper and bottom half for easy transportation in regular vehicles like cars, SUVs and trucks. Not a lot is known about this interesting watercraft except that it weighs 75 lbs, has a top speed of 35 mph, and the undisclosed motor is powered by a battery good for an hour of mixed use.
The Kayak, on the other hand, looks like a super chill ride that makes briskly 7 mph, weighs 65 lbs and has a range of 20 miles. Finally, the Surf Board is a surfboard that lets you “surf” even if there aren’t any waves. As before, the propulsion is undisclosed, but we do know whatever is packed inside the seemingly thick hull is capable 25 mph and it has a mixed use battery life of an hour.
The Surf Board is significantly lighter too, coming in at just 45 lbs. Interestingly, the entire line up including the existing Body Board use the same batteries, which means the batteries can be swap between the watercraft if necessary.
The new Kymera personal watercraft are open for reservation as we speak. Price-wise, the Kymera K-X2 Personal Watercraft goes for $5,995 while the Kymera Kayak and the Kymera Surf Board each commands $2,995 and $4,995, respectively. Shipping for all three types of watercraft is expected to happen in 2020. Here, have a look at the K-X2 in action below:
