You can reminisce about the good’ol hippie days of the hitting the roads and beaches in a Volkswagen T2 camper van with this: LEGO 10279 Volkswagen T2 Camper Van.

That’s right. It has been awhile since we have a LEGO Volkswagen set and even a longer while since the last Volkswagen van. But we are finally getting another and a deserving immortalizing of one of the most iconic vehicles of our time, the Volkswagen T2 bus.

This time, this new LEGO 10279 Volkswagen Camper Van has something that is distinctively 60s and closely related to VW T2: surfboard. A brick-built surfboard, of course.

The new LEGO 10279 Volkswagen T2 Camper Van is a worthy successor to 2011’s LEGO Creator Expert Volkswagen T1 Camper Van with almost double the number of elements, at 2,207 pieces.

With more pieces, it means it is larger and rocking more details. It set features new paint color, a sliding door, a textile pop tent and the unmistakable T2 trademark wraparound Baywindow front windscreen that forms part of its instantly recognizable ‘face’.

It further features working steering, and a detailed interior outfitted for the open road, boasting opening cabinets, fridge, sink, and the works.

Finally, this beautiful set is complete with a folding rear bench seat, a set of folding chairs, the said brick-built surfboard (it really should have two!), and a sticker set including retro decals and a choice of German or US number plates.

Just writing this, I can already hear The Beatles’ I Want to Hold Your Hand ringing in my head.
