LEGO 75997 Ant-Man and the Wasp SDCC Set

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, LEGO has something that will thrilled Marvel’s Ant-Man fans. The Danish toy maker has unveiled a SDCC exclusive set based on the second Ant-Man movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp, that has just hit the theaters last week. The set, LEGO 75997 Ant-Man and the Wasp, features the bust of Scott Lang’s Ant-Man going Giant-Man, along with a Hope Pym’s Wasp minifigure.

The set isn’t big. In fact, it is rather small, coming in at just 218 pieces and so, you won’t be expecting anything complex, i.e. no super exclusive parts or whatsoever. I kind of dig the idea of a LEGO Ant-Man bust. Already, I have imagined myself creating a sea out of LEGO to recreate the scene from the movie. Hell, I would go as far as putting together a ferry too. Just thinking of it has already make me all wet with excitement.

Unfortunately, though, being 218 pieces means the Ant-Man bust is not as detailed as I may have loved. However, the packaging may add to its desirable index. Departing from the usual product-image-on-box tradition, this SDCC “special limited edition” has a comic book-inspired graphics, featuring the giant Ant-Man half submerged in water against a background of the city and Wasp flying to the foreground.

The graphics is consummated by bold lines and colors commonly used in comic art. There’s even a Comic Code Authority stamp on the packaging. Now that, my friends, is super cool! Sadly, there is not a chance that I will be at SDCC and this means, odds of me getting my hands on one as good as none. Boo-hoo.
