“… So much torque, the chassis twisted coming off the line” was what Dominic Toretto told Brian O’Connor of the 1970 Dodge Charger in 2001’s The Fast and the Furious movie. Well, you will not have that kind of torque or make the quarter mile in 9 seconds with the LEGO Technic 42111 Dom’s Dodge Charger, but it sure has the spirit of Dom’s iconic ride from the Fast & Furious franchise.
That’s right, the first LEGO product from the Fast & Furious collaboration announced earlier this year has arrived. And oh man, this Dodge Charger is looking fabulous even for a non-fan of the franchise like myself.
Based on the the 1970s Dodge Charger R/T, the LEGO Technic 42111 Dom’s Dodge Charger has chockfull of details, including opening hood, buildable V8 engine with moving pistons (and even timing chain!), wishbone suspension, steering system, air blower, nitro bottles in truck, and wheel stand to display it in its wheelie position.
All told, this iconic ride, made even more iconic by the movie, packs 1,077 pieces and when built, measures 15 inches long, 6 inches wide and 4 inches tall (39 x 16 x 11 centimeters).
Designed for ages 10 and up, LEGO touts the LEGO Technic 42111 Dom’s Dodge Charger as a highly playable set, but if you ask me, this set deserves to be on display at any Fast & Furious fan’s F&F altar/shrine.
