LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Megacar 42232
Koenigsegg has officially joined LEGO's elite 1:8 Technic lineup. The 4,104-piece Sadair's Spear Megacar packs Ghost Mode, a 9-speed transmission, and even inspired a life-size drivable LEGO version that reached 111 km/h at Goodwood.

LEGO’s 1:8-scale Technic builds are no longer just about mainstream super/hypercars like Bugatti, Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, and Porsche. The Danish toymaker has officially welcomed Koenigsegg into its 1:8 garage. Folks, meet the LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Megacar (42232).

Not only is this the first 1:8-scale LEGO Technic Koenigsegg, but it also marks the sixth member of the Technic Ultimate Car Concept Series. And because Koenigsegg does not do ordinary, LEGO decided simply unveiling the set was not enough. It built a life-size, drivable version and sent it up the Goodwood hill. In reverse.

Piloted by Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh, the giant brick-built machine hit 111 km/h (69 mph), more than doubling the previous speed record for a drivable LEGO Technic car. The full-size model used 327,906 elements, weighed around 1,800 kilograms (3,968 pounds), and consumed more than 9,400 hours of development time. Of that weight, roughly 400 kilograms (882 pounds) came from LEGO elements. It even features a working Ghost Mode and the signature Koenigsegg key.

Meanwhile, the version you can actually fit in your home consists of 4,104 pieces and packs some impressive engineering. It has a functional 9-speed transmission, an authentic V8 piston engine, working steering, a removable roof, and Koenigsegg’s unique Triplex suspension system front and rear. There is also a new rotating gear indicator disc that visually shows which gear is engaged.

La pièce de résistance est Ghost Mode. With one movement, the rear clam lifts, the front hood opens, the mirrors fold, and the signature dihedral synchro-helix doors swing upward, just like the real megacar.

Naturally, this model was developed closely with Koenigsegg to capture the engineering madness that defines the Swedish marque. It is no exaggeration to say this is one of the most mechanically sophisticated Technic Ultimate models yet.

LEGO Insiders can get behind the wheel early on July 1, while everyone else gets their chance on July 4. The LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Megacar (42232) carries a price tag of US$449.99.

As a bonus, those who pick up the set between July 1 and July 6, while supplies last, will receive the LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Steering Wheel (40894) Gift with Purchase. It may not unlock Ghost Mode in your house, but it is a nice little memento to go with what is arguably LEGO’s most ambitious Swedish hypercar to date.
