Good news, fans of TRON, specifically Disney’s reboot, the TRON Legacy because, BrickBros UK’s LEGO Ideas submission, TRON Legacy Light Cycle, has been approved as one of the next LEGO Ideas sets. Wise choice, LEGO Ideas team! For the record, I am not huge fan of TRON Legacy, but I can’t deny that Light Cycle has captured my imagination, regardless how impractical it is. It is just about the coolest fictional motorcycle ever, apart from Akira’s.
Now, a little about BrickBros UK’s TRON Legacy Light Cycle Set… it comes with a display base and a minifigure of the protagonist, Sam – complete with TRON suit, helmet and disc, and it is of course, scale to minifig size. It is a simple set, but speaks volume, simply because minifig Sam could ride the Light Cycle. Here are the details straight from the horse’s mouth:
“The light cycle its self has a console in front of the user, two handle bars and detailing down the sides, there is also a power stream behind connected to the light cycle. The Sam Flynn minifigure comes in a TRON suit with helmet and disc connected on the back of the minifigure for added detail. The light cycle can easily be mounted on to the Grid base with two connection points and the base has the Grid effect with black and trans-blue tiles creating a TRON feel and has a medium azure trim for finish.”
As you have read, this set is awesome, but unfortunately, it does not lights up like in the movie. However, kudos to the clever use of transparent blue bricks and medium azure tiles, BrickBros UK managed to pull it up. It will be nice we could see a light up version, though. That will be super cool! It is too early now to ascertain when LEGO TRON Legacy Light Cycle Set will be available and the associated price point. The number of pieces is not known too. All we know is, it is 100-200 pieces. It is a small set and we shouldn’t expect it to be too pricey. Or is it?
