Evangelion is no stranger to lending its name to timepieces ranging from rugged watches to dive watches and GPS smartwatches to pocket watches. The latest to join EVA watch collab is affordable luxury watch brand from Switzerland, Welly Merck with the Welly Merck x Evangelion Mechanical Timepiece Collection.
The Welly Merck x Evangelion Mechanical Timepiece Collection [CH] has three models, each drawing inspiration from EVA Unit 01, Asuka Langley Plug Suit, and Ayanami Plug Suit.
All the three models share the same mechanical-style asymmetrical dial face design imbued with the iconic warning lines design and honeycomb motif so often seen in the series.
Differentiating each model is the colorway. The Unit-01 model has a purple dial with green accents, the Asuka model has a red dial with yellow accents and the Rei model is in white with blue accents.
In addition, the crown is engraved with the shoulder emblem found on the EVA units in their respective colors, and finally, further differentiating each model is the engraved number of the EVA unit number on the watch bracelet.
Each timepiece from the Welly Merck x Evangelion Mechanical Timepiece Collection has a transparent case back electroplated with the NERV logo.
As far as the watch goes, it features a fully-automatic mechanical movement with 80 hours of power reserve, 21 jewels, 28,800 vph, luminous indices and hands, synthetic sapphire glass, waterproof to 100 meters (10 ATM or about 330 feet), and tool-free strap replacement.
The Welly Merck x Evangelion Mechanical Timepiece Collection is also available with a leather strap option.
Whichever you decided to go with, it will come in a special packaging featuring Evangelion graphics, and within, you will find an extra rubber watch band in the respective color and two EVA-themed medals (look more like button pins, IMHO).
It looks like Welly Merck x Evangelion Mechanical Timepiece Collection is, as of now, available to the China market only.
