not too long ago, we have seen a calculator integrated into a mouse but now, LG has taken a step further with a scanner squeezed into the limited real estate of a mouse. yes, you heard that right – a mouse that doubles as a handheld scanner. this two-button mouse, dubbed the LG LSM-100 Scanner Mouse, is a fully functional two-button mouse features what LG called as Smart Scan technology alongside its standard mouse livery. the integrated Smart Scan button, when held down, enables the mouse to scan page sizes up to A3 size. format options are not lacking either. the scanned document can be saved in a variety of formats, including PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PDF, XLS or DOC, and it also has Optical Character Recognition or OCR capability.

the LG LSM-100 Scanner Mouse is available now in Europe or at least in UK for £89.75 (about US$143) a pop. more images of the LG LSM-100 Scanner Mouse after the break (click on individual image for larger view). neat idea but i am perfectly happy with my Fujitsu ScanSnap – at least taking a step or two to do the scan job might just help to burn some calories.
