It will be a shame that a retro-style interior decor had to be marred by modern gadgets like Bluetooth speakers. It is true that some Bluetooth speakers score in the aesthetic department, but often they are modern or futuristic looking which is not exactly a good fit with your humble abode’s nostalgic styling. Of course, not everyone’s like holding to the past, but if you are, you ought to check out the Lofree Poison Retro Bluetooth Speaker & Radio. As the product name implies, it is a modern day technology clad in an uber nostalgic enclosure.
No, wait. Actually, not all of the ‘technologies’ in it are modern. The radio, for example, is a blast from the past. For one, it ain’t digital (so, yay? I guess?) and on top of that, it lets you enjoy the good’ol analog radio in the good’ol way: radio channel surfing by dialling the knob. Beyond that it is the Bluetooth speaker you have come to expect, allowing you to stream up to six hours of CD quality music wirelessly on a single charge and dishing out the tunes through an in-house audio circuitry called Waves MaxxAudio Acoustic Solution.
Despite its super compact size of 180 x 105 x 70 mm (7.08 x 4.13 x 2.75 inches) and weighing just 1.21 lbs (550g), it is loaded with two 52 mm drivers, rated at 10W each, paired to two 10W amplifiers and an enhanced bass driver. Features aside, the star of the show is obviously the irresistible nostalgic design that possesses the charm of the 50s radio with a minimalist curved form, accented by a metal grilled, and metal strap holders for the accompanying leather strap. I don’t know about you, but to me, Lofree Poison feel like the Airstream of Bluetooth speaker.
And the best part is, you are getting all the aforementioned for as low as 505 Hong Kong dollars (or US$64). But there’s a catch: this affordability is only available during Lofree Poison’s Kickstarter campaign which will end in four days (sorry!). So, the call is yours to make. Delivery is expected to commence in September 2017 and yes, the campaign is well over its funding goal of 10,000 HKD.
