Well, is this the season of unusual Evangelion collectibles? Anyhoo, if you’re fond of both Evangelion and Transformers franchises, you’re in for a treat. Well, if you’re in Japan, that is. As much as I wish for it, this isn’t a Transformers x Evangelion crossover. But it’s as close as you’ll get to transforming EVA units.

McDonald’s Japan has teamed up with Studio Khara to introduce a unique collaboration: transforming figures that merge iconic Evangelion mechs with classic McDonald’s menu items.
The lineup includes three figures: the Big Mac Unit-01, World Famous Fries Unit-02, and the McShake Unit-00. Each figure cleverly morphs from a McDonald’s food item into a chibi-style Evangelion unit, blending fast-food nostalgia with anime mecha in a way that only Japan can dream up.
These figures are available exclusively through a lottery system via the McDonald’s Japan app. The application period runs from December 19, 2024, to January 10, 2025. Winners will be notified on January 16, 2025, and can claim their set at their designated McDonald’s location between January 20 and January 26, 2025.
The set of three figures is priced at 3,900 yen [JP] (approximately US$24.77). Just don’t let the Angels get to them before you do. Oh, wait. It’s a lottery-based purchase, so I should be saying don’t let the Angels kill your Lady Luck! I wish they would stop making lottery-based purchases. Not that I will be in Japan to buy it but you know, at least when it hits eBay, the price will not be otherworldly.
