After having teased us on the new JCW GP in February, MINI has finally revealed a prototype of its 2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP. The “extreme athlete” model made its public appearance for the first time as part of the 24 Hours Nürburgring pre-race program. Following which, the serial production vehicle of just 3,000 units will roll into the market in 2020.
With the announcement of the imminent arrival of the 2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP, MINI also divulge that the car’s in-line 4 engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology makes more than 300 HP. However, it did not disclosed the performance numbers that most petrolhead clamor. But MINI did say that the 2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP prototype owned the “Green Hell” in “less than eight minutes,” which its predecessor took 8:23 minutes.
So, the take away is, it is definitely faster, though, it is worthy to note that the testing is far from over. Beyond that, MINI is not forthcoming with specifics. Anywho, at the 24-hour race, will interrupt their test program to present the camouflaged prototype of the said vehicle.
Details such as when exactly it will be available, how much it will cost and number of units allocated to each country are unknown to us at this point. Meanwhile, you can drool over the official images of the disguised MINI John Cooper Works GP Prototype posted along with this post.
