Hot Toys Dark Knight Trilogy Batmobile Tumbler is cool and all but let’s get real. Not everyone can shell out US$625 for one. Let’s not to mention, Hot Toys’ iteration of the crimefighting vehicle demands quite a sizeable shelf space. Enters MODOKING 1:12 Dark Knight Trilogy Tumbler Model Kit.
Granted it is a model kit but the value will surprise you. The MODOKING 1:12 Dark Knight Trilogy Tumbler Model Kit is not just any model kit. It is pre-painted, so you need to do is to assemble it. No messy painting to deal with. That is not all. You’d be getting the iconic Tumbler in all its movie-accurate glory and you’d also be getting a Batpod.
Interestingly the Batpod model kit, when completed, can be stored inside the Batmobile just like in the movie. Nah. Just kidding. It can be stored in the Tumbler but not quite like in the movie. I believe you will need to partially disassemble and store in the Batmobile.
The plastic model kit, which is part of MODOKING’s 1:12 The Dark Knight Trilogy Assembly Model Series, further features magnetic-sensing light-up effects (it has 6 light-up units), an afterburner effect part, rubber tires, and a working steering wheel in a detailed cockpit.
When completed the MODOKING 1:12 Dark Knight Trilogy Tumbler measures 37 cm x 23.2 cm x 12.5 cm (14.6 x 9.1 x 4.9 inches) and the Batpod measures 28.8 x 9.1 x 8.3 cm (11.3 x 3.6 x 3.3 inches). It can be paired up with a 1:12 action figure which makes it the perfect alternative to Hot Toys. And it costs only a fraction of Hot Toys.
The MODOKING 1:12 Dark Knight Trilogy Tumbler has a pre-order price of 499 yuan (69 USD) in China. The final retail price will be 549 yuan (76 USD). Unfortunately, it is slightly pricey when it reaches the U.S. (about US$124).
