before the dust has even settled on the newly announced MSI’s AMD-equipped gaming laptop, MSI has again announced a few more mobile gaming rigs that would certainly have gamers spoilt for choice. among the announced, the MSI GT70 Dragon Edition 2 Gaming Laptop (model 2OD-039US) caught our eyes with its dragon graphic-adorned chassis. however, the GT70 is not just beauty and no brawl. under the hood, it is powered by the fourth-gen Intel Core i7 processor, backed by a massive 32GB DDR3 RAM and is outfitted with NVIDIA’s latest GeForce GTX780M graphics with 4GB VRAM. with the combination of the 4th-gen Intel core processors and NVIDIA latest graphics, the laptop is now more than capable to handle high-definition gaming and video playback while not sacrificing battery life (in fact, MSI said it doubles the battery life, though no numbers were provided). additionally, the GT (as well as the GE) laptops are also capable of 4K video playback at an intense resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels.
other features include a 17.3″ Full HD non-reflective display, Super RAID 2 with three 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD, MSI exclusive Killer Doubleshot for lag-less wired and wireless online gaming, a customizable full color SteelSeries gaming backlit keyboard, premium Dynaudio speakers with subwoofer, MSI Cooler Boost 2 for a cooler gaming experience (literally), built-in Blu-ray reader/writer, card reader, three USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI 1.4, and a HD webcam. aesthetic and form factor-wise, the new GT70 remains the same as the outgoing model – maintaining the same visual appearance with the exception of the dragon graphic and heft of 8.6 lbs. though the new MSI GT70 Dragon Edition 2 Extreme Gaming Laptop is now slightly more pricey at $2,799.99 as compared with the now older GT70 model. catch a few more look and a product promo video after the break.
