Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan had specifically said that the Razer Chroma Mug is strictly a non sale item. It was an exclusive gift presented to partners and close friends with some set aside for loyal fans through a sweepstake or something of sort, but in this Internet age, non sale item doesn’t mean you won’t be able to get it, well, that’s if you are prepared to drop a cool 1,220 English pounds or more (about an insane $1,520!). As it appears, at least one partner of Razer or close friend is not appreciating the exclusivity bestowed on him or her because this person, referred to as eBay seller dezolator-uk, has put it up for auction on eBay.
The Razer Chroma Mug this folk is peddling is number 0494 of the 1,337 available and so, if Razer did any paperwork when issuing the mug, they would have know whom. At the time of this writing, the mug attracted 52 bids, pushing it to 1,220 pounds and it still has got 5 more days on the calendar, which means it could go even higher – and that’s for a drinkware that changes color. Looking at the trend, this one-and-only color changing mug on sale now is out-of-reach for most mortals, but not all hopes are lost, cos’ you will still have a chance to bag one in a giveaway event.
When? I have no idea. But we suggest you follow both Razer and CEO Tan on Facebook and Twitter to keep yourself informed. Speaking of Tan, he did found about this ‘treacherous’ act but he decided to let it go. Tan explains:
“Generally, I would be offended to see outlet gifts put on eBay, but his decryption wins the Internets so I’m going to close one eye and assume it’s a gamer fallen on hard times and that this sale will bring him back to gaming glory.”
And what’s the description that won Tan’s ‘forgiveness’? This:
“The package also includes a pair of stickers, a manual and most importantly, a personal message from our lord & savior – Min-Liang Tan. It is said that only he can see in true 8K 200FPS at all times, and that he can turn anything he touches into Chroma certified products.”
