Remember the Cutie1 Eva collectible statue that has the stuffed toy look? Well, this one may look like the 13 cm (5.1 inches) adorable Eva Unit-01 but it is far from small. This little big guy, dubbed Prime 1 Studio Cutie1 XL Evangelion Test Type-01 Statue, is toddler height at 83 cm (33 inches). I know right. It feels absolutely surreal looking at a cute Eva statue that is not actually adorable in size.
Each Prime 1 Studio Cutie1 XL Evangelion Test Type-01 Statue comes with a matching “life-size” base. Not going to lie this blown-up version of the Cutie1 is strangely alluring. The XL version takes the Evangelion Test Type-01 Cutie1 collectible to a giant mecha-size while retaining the “kawaii” Japanese style of a plush toy.
There are two editions of this statue. There is the regular edition and the limited edition. Differentiating the two versions is the color. The Limited Edition has a metallic shine to it. Both figures are crafted using fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) and both figures have a limited run of just 50 pieces. Unfortunately, though, the US$1,399 statue was open for pre-order on April 4 and today, it is already sold out. Ugh.
