Long-haired Rei is one of those Evangelion designs that stayed in fans’ heads long after Shin Evangelion ended. It feels familiar, yet quietly different. Now, that version finally arrives as a large-scale Premium Masterline statue from Prime 1 Studio.

At the same time, Good Smile Arts Shanghai is bringing Yoshiyuki Sadamoto’s illustrated Rei and Asuka into 1/7 scale form, giving collectors two very different takes on the characters in one release window. One reflects on where Evangelion began. The other captures where it ended.✨
Starting with the smaller releases, Good Smile Arts Shanghai is bringing Sadamoto’s illustrated Rei Ayanami and Asuka Shikinami Langley into 1/7 scale form from Rebuild of Evangelion. Both figures follow his character designs closely, down to the restrained posture and delicate hand positioning that define his artwork.
Rei stands approximately 205 mm (20.5 cm, or 8.07 inches) tall and presents her familiar quiet presence with a composed expression and carefully sculpted silhouette. Asuka measures about 235 mm (23.5 cm, or 9.25 inches) in height, with flowing hair adding motion to an otherwise controlled stance. Each figure includes a dedicated base, and Rei’s version incorporates magnets as part of the internal structure. They are designed to be appreciated from every angle, reflecting the illustration-driven approach behind the sculpt.
Then there is the larger arrival.

Prime 1 Studio’s Premium Masterline long-hair Rei Ayanami statue from Shin Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time captures one of the most quietly striking versions of the character ever shown on screen. For many fans, this is the Rei who appears at the very end of the story. Familiar, but not the same as before.
Presented in 1/4 scale, the statue stands approximately 46 cm tall, 24 cm wide, and 28 cm deep (18.11 x 9.45 x 11.02 inches), with a weight of about 3.9 kg (8.6 lbs). The seated pose highlights her slender proportions and relaxed posture, while the longer hair changes her silhouette in a way that immediately sets this version apart from earlier figures. It is a small visual shift with a surprisingly strong emotional effect.
The white plug suit is finished with subtle gray shading along the panel lines, giving the surface depth without overpowering the character itself. Beneath her, the hexagon-patterned base references the fractured boundary imagery associated with the Minus Space environment late in the film.
The bonus edition includes an alternate smiling head sculpt, offering a softer expression rarely seen in large-scale Rei statues. It changes the mood of the piece entirely, depending on which version is displayed.
The Good Smile Arts Shanghai 1/7 scale Rei Ayanami [JP] and Asuka Shikinami Langley [JP] figures are scheduled for release in March 2027 for 18,600 yen each (tax included). Pre-orders for these figures are available on Amiami.jp.
