Radinn Electric Wakeboard

who’s actually doing the water sports? the wakeboarder or the wakeboard boat pilot? we don’t know but one thing for sure is, you can cut yourself loose from the cable and do without a wakeboard boat, which is not cheap to rent anyways, and go with Radinn electric-powered wakeboard. it is the wakeboard you are familiar with, well, except maybe a little heftier and larger in overall size, but it is self-propelled, letting you cut the water at up to 29 miles an hour (about 25 knots) for up to 60 minutes per charge. details on the propulsion is not disclosed; we only know that is push forward by an electric-powered “efficient jet-propulsion” which is kept juiced by lithium battery pack, stashed away in a removable watertight compartment.

with the battery and motor in place, this thing is definitely going to be a lot heavier and larger than non-powered wakeboards, which are serious penalties on maneuverability, but the Swedish outfit overcomes it by opting to go with lightweight carbon fiber construction for the wakeboard’s body and the use of lightweight lithium batteries. control of the speed is with a wireless waterproof handheld remote, while the rest of the maneuvers is as per what you would do on a regular wakeboard. however, we would think the feel and control will be vastly different now that you are tether-free and not in tow, which means you gain full control, but it also means you won’t get the kind of brute power as when towed by a boat and probably won’t be able execute air soaring tricks like you would with a tow-behind wakeboard.

from the action video, it looks like it is more of a water skateboard and possibly, a form of water transportation. there is a reason why wakeboard is called a wakeboard in the first place. in this case, i guess the Radinn would be a wakeboard that does without the wake. but if you love the idea of being in full control and like being pushed rather than being pulled, then the Radinn Electric Wakeboard might just be the thing for you. there is no word on the pricing or if its actually already available now. keep going for more images and a video.
