Relio Photography Light

Sometimes, the only thing that stands between your camera and a good photograph is light. Thankfully, there are bountiful of solutions out there, but when it comes to real portability, we think the Relio Photography Light could be the only one that actually slips into the pocket. Yup. You heard that right, photography light that fits right in the pockets of your regular chinos. We don’t know about you, but it sounds downright cool to us and that’s even before we caught glimpse of its gorgeous CNC-machined aluminum body. Its 35mm (1.38”) aluminum body is sandblasted by hand, no less, and hard anodized for durability.

Its creator, Italy-based Relio, wants Relio to be the purest light source you ever had and most importantly, one that’s built to last a lifetime. Performance-wise, Relio claims to be able to render colors better than average household lights and will even give professional illumination systems a run for their money. Other highlights include integrated standard camera mount (that’s 1/4-20 UNC thread, btw), TIR lenses with 30- and 15-degree optics, 2 percent ripple @850kHz, ESD protected, 500 Lux at 1m (3.3 feet), up to 96 Color Rendering Index, and finally, USB powered for convenience, allowing Relio to be lighted up using your PC, USB wall adapter or a mobile battery pack. Three color temperatures are being offered, 3000K, 3500K and 4500K, to suit your usage needs.

Relio Photography Light is being crowdfunded on Kickstarter where a pledge of £89 or more (about US$140) will secure yourself one for November 2015 delivery. But as always, the fate of Relio is in your hands and it can only be a reality if it gets funded. So, if you really want one, make the pledge and keep your fingers crossed.
