3 years after the introduction of the reMarkable 2 paper tablet you would think reMarkable’s latest news would be a gen-3 paper tablet but nope. The e-ink tablet maker has introduced a folio keyboard instead. Called Type Folio, it adds typing to handwriting through a tactile keyboard and because it is a folio too, it also offers your reMarkable 2 protection.
Like the official folio for iPad, Type Folio snaps into place by the virtue of magnets and connects to reMarkable 2 automatically; no pairing, charging, or cables are necessary. Also like most folios of such nature, it offers fixed positions for focused work. Type Folio has two fixed positions: a traditional laptop-style typing position and a near-flat position that is good for combining typing and handwriting. The software has been updated to allow Type Folio seamlessly switch between pen strokes and keystrokes.

Your paper tablet detects when you open the keyboard and automatically rotates the display, enabling you to switch quickly and seamlessly between handwriting and typing. Handwritten text anchors intelligently to typed text, ensuring that scribbled and typed notes stay connected even as you move text up and down on a page.”
Basically, it lets you input however you wish or is most convenient at the given time. And when reading, you can open the front cover all the way around so it touches the back cover, much like the brand’s Book Folio. The keyboard features full-size letter keys and a pretty delightful 1.3 mm of key travel.
