I contemplate. I procrastinate. I think over and over and over again before eventually committing to buy a $500 dollar camera. That said, I will probably be the last person to drop, I don’t know, say, US$1,230 on an instant camera. You must be asking. What kind of instant camera costs that much? Well, that would be the Saint Laurent kind.
The renowned French fashion house which some people fondly remember as Yves Saint Laurent or YSL has partnered with Polaroid to release a unique, very collectible Polaroid SX70 instant camera, called the Saint x Laurent Polaroid SX70 Leopard.
Saint x Laurent Polaroid SX70 Leopard is a fixed focus lens, autofocus instant camera made in collaboration with YSL, featuring 80% steel and 20% other fibers. The product, as the name suggests, is compatible with SX70 films, and it is a Saint Laurent Rive Droite exclusive made in the Netherlands.
There is really nothing to talk about but I do have to admit that the leopard print does make this instant snapper a striking piece. Clearly, it is not for everyone. I mean, for the love of God, that’s a hell lot of Benjamins for an instant film camera.
While this is not the first time Polaroid has lent its camera to fashion labels like Lacoste, Teva and even high-street fashion labels, Fendi, the Saint x Laurent Polaroid SX70 Leopard Instant Camera is the priciest yet. It’s a good 250 bucks more than Fendi’s which we, admittedly, adore.
