Swarovski Kristallwelten Crystallized Carousel

Yes. Swarovski indeed has a theme park. OK. It’s more like a carnival-ish setup really, but anyways… this theme park, aptly called Swarovski Kristallwelten (or Swarovski Crystal Worlds), located in Wattens, Austria, has introduced a new attraction: a carousel.

Not just any carousel, though. It is a carousel worthy as an art, or a luxurious, shiny art, to be more precise. How so? Oh, nothing much really. It just had 15 million Swarovski crystals on it. I am not even shitting you. Swarovski-embellished carousel is a thing and yes, it is full size and it is totally functional.

However, the presence of the precious stones are not what you may have imagined. They are definitely not they were embellished on, say, a pair of flip-flops, or a phone case. Instead, they are cleverly integrated into patterns that blend seamlessly with the entire design. In other words, they offers the bling but without being too distracting or ostentatious.

Speaking of design, the Swarovski Kristallwelten Crystallized Carousel is the creative vision of renowned Spanish designer Jamie Hayon. If you take a closer look, you will kind of realize that the carousel looks like a joyride fit for the other side of the Rabbit Hole in Alice In Wonderland. I believe the words to describe this monochrome carousel installation are ‘fun’ and ‘whimsical’.

All told, the Swarovski Kristallwelten Crystallized Carousel boasts 15 million Swarovski crystals across 12 ceiling panels and 16 wall panels, and it further boasts warm illumination, fantasy characters for the seats, and mirrors – like, a lot of mirrors.

It measures 6.5 meters tall, 12.5 meters in diameter and it can accommodate 28 riders and even have seats for wheelchair-bound riders. If you are a fan of Swarovski, you may want to check out Swarovski Kristallwelten and this bling bling carousel out the next time you are in Austria.
