The Transformers The Movie Japanese Key Art Movie Poster

It is no secret that Vice Press co-founder Matt Ferguson is Trekkie but what you may not know is that he is also a huge fan of Transformers. And for the past few months, he’s been on a quest to give The Transformers: The Movie artwork a makeover that even Megatron would envy.

One of the results is this lovely work of art straight from the heart of Japan’s theatrical poster scene, The Transformers: The Movie Japanese Key Art Movie Poster by Yoshiyuki Takani in Fine Art Pigment Print. Part of the Editions range, this poster has just 2000 prints to go around and is A2 in size, which is roughly 16.5 x 23.4 inches (420 x 594 mm).

Release in collaboration with Moor Art Gallery, there were actually two fine art posters. The first featured the artwork from the original The Transformers: The Movie theatrical UK quad poster and the second is the one you see here, the original Japanese theatrical poster featuring art by Yoshiyuki Takani.

Both versions were released on August 24th but unfortunately, we did not get wind of it, and the quad poster, which has a limited run of just 200 prints, was promptly sold out. Ugh. It is unfortunate indeed, or maybe not because it was the The Transformers: The Movie Japanese Key Art Movie Poster that caught my eye.
