The fact that the original Transformers’ Megatron turned into a Wather P38 handgun makes it clear that he is the bad guy. Even in his robot form, he flaunts his cannon on his arm. Autobot, on the other hand, are mostly harmless-looking automobiles and do not often flaunt their weapons. I guess times have changed because Optimus Prime has just become a gun instead of a truck, or at least he is with Transformers: Rise of the Beasts 2-in-1 Optimus Prime Blaster.
That’s right, folks. Optimus Prime is a blaster. As the product name suggests, the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts 2-in-1 Optimus Prime Blaster is part of the many merchandises promoting the upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts movie. I could not fathom why a blaster because in the film Optimus Prime is clearly a truck.
While there have been quite a number of NERF and Transformers collaborations in the past, including co-branded NERF Barricade RV-10 blasters, Megatron that transformed into a non-functional NERF blaster, and a super-deformed amalgamation of live-action Optimus Prime in its truck mode that converts into a NERF blaster that fires NERF N-Strike-size foam darts – just to name a few, this should be the first Transformers character that can convert into a NERF blaster and fires darts.
The Transformers: Rise of the Beasts 2-in-1 Optimus Prime Blaster is powered by NERF and converts from a robot to a single-shot blaster in 13 steps. The blaster comes supplied with 2 NERF darts and features a targeting scope.
The NERF Transformers: Rise of the Beasts 2-in-1 Optimus Prime Blaster is expected to hit the shelves on April 10, 2023, for US$19.99 a pop.
