Well, that was quick! It feels like we just saw the uncolored prototype of the threezero Lockdown figure in July, and now it’s already official and available for pre-order. Words can’t describe how long I’ve waited for this moment—and yes, I’m as excited as a Decepticon with a freshly polished alt-mode. OK, technically, he was, for some reason, not a Decepticons in Michael Bay’s movie. He was a Decepticon as far as 2005 IDW continuity goes.
Threezero has truly outdone itself this time, bringing Lockdown from Transformers: Age of Extinction to life in a way that is both menacing and mesmerizing. Standing tall at 9.5 inches (or 24cm if you want to be precise), this DLX Lockdown figure boasts about 60 points of articulation. In layman’s terms? This guy can bend, twist, and pose like nobody’s business. Made from a sturdy combination of die-cast metal and high-grade plastic, Lockdown has the durability to survive countless battles on your shelf (and not topple over like a clumsy Autobot).
What really sets this figure apart is the detail. Threezero’s signature weathered paint job makes it look like Lockdown just stepped off the set, still hunting Autobots with his relentless focus. His eyes light up with an eerie glow, thanks to the LED effects (you’ll need to grab some AG13 batteries though), and he comes packed with enough weaponry to make even Megatron a little jealous. Face Cannon? Check. Blaster? Check. Hook, Arm Blade, Knife, and a Spark Extractor? You bet. And just to kick it up a notch, the Battle Mask attaches magnetically, so you can give Lockdown that extra air of “don’t mess with me” menace.
For those who want to go all out, the Event Exclusive Edition offers even more goodies: a thermal camera face (because you know, Lockdown’s gotta see in all the wavelengths) and an energy core piece to recreate more iconic moments from the film. It’s perfect for those who like their displays with a bit of extra flair.
You can forget about the event exclusive. It is out of reach unless you have been buying directly from threezero on its official store in the e-commerce platform Tmall/Taobao. I believe to qualify for the pre-order for the event exclusive version, you need to be a threezero member on its Tmall/Taobao store and have accumulated 2,000 member points or more (1 RMB=1 points). If I read it correctly, this event-exclusive version has a limited run of 399 copies. It costs US$249.90.
As far as the regular edition goes, it will run you back at US$239.90. It is a premium price but then again, it is DLX, which is a line of premium collectible figures. The Threezero Transformers: Age of Extinction DLX Lockdown Figure is expected to start shipping sometime in the second quarter of 2025, so you’ve got plenty of time to clear some space for this bounty-hunting legend—and prepare the rest of the bounty, I mean, money to welcome the figure.
