Unless you are a mega fan of Transformers, you probably have not heard of a combiner so evil that it makes the Decepticons’ villainous plans sound like child’s play. Folks, meet Monstructor, which is formed by six Cybertronian lifeforms known as the Pretender Monsters. This obscure character hasn’t had a toy since 1989—until now.

Hasbro is bringing it back as part of its Transformers Age of the Primes line, aptly called Decepticon Monstructor. Wait a minute. Why does this look all so familiar? Oh, I know—it is actually the retooled/redeco Legacy Evolution Dinobot Core Class Volcanicus Combiner, which had also been redecoed into the combiner Dinoking. Well, at least this is not just a simple recolor. I can see the toy designers trying their best to make the individual figures and the combined form NOT look like the Dinobots/Volcanicus (note: it does look like the Dinobots/Volcanicus, btw. But good attempt).
The 2026 iteration of Monstructor comes as a gift set of six converting figures, comprising Monsters Birdbrain, Monsters Bristleback, Monsters Icepick, Monsters Scowl, Decepticon Slog, and Monsters Wildfly. Each figure is just 8.5 cm (3.5 inches) tall and has three modes: robot, monster, and combined. The Decepticon Monstructor combined form stands 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) tall.
The Pretender Monsters come with weapon accessories that combine into a blaster and halberd. Also included are a head, feet, and hands for the combiner mode.
If you are interested—whether for completeness’ sake or for nostalgia—you can secure a set from HasbroPulse.com by pre-ordering it for US$89.99. Shipping is set to happen around August 01, 2026.
