The leader of Autobots in the Transformers franchise, Optimus Prime, have had one of the most toy versions – if not the most. Personally, I can’t get enough of Prime (though my wallet’s begs to differ). If you are on the same page, then I am sure the Transformers Takara Tomy Golden Lagoon Convoy (Optimus Prime) will tickle your fancy.
Transformers Takara Tomy Golden Lagoon Convoy (Optimus Prime) is a homage to the Golden Lagoon episode aired in 1985. It’s not quite a kid’s toy (recommended for ages 15 and up), though. As you can see, Prime here is coated in snazzy golden paint job, albeit not actual gold. The risk of paint wearing off is pretty high here and thus, it really is more of a collectible than toy.
Gold variants of Transformers transforming action figures are not new to the market, but it is for the America market. The Transformers Takara Tomy Golden Lagoon Convoy (Optimus Prime) is an authentic Takara Tomy Product imported from Japan – complete with the original packaging and instructions in Japanese.
But don’t worry, you will be perfectly fine transforming it without knowing a single character of Japanese. You know, what they say, a picture speaks a thousand words.
The figure comes in a special collector box, designed with a freestyle character art concept and gold lead colors and textures. It’s swanky, alright. I have the Starscream version and so, I can attest to the level bling this figure will bring. And yes, it is totally transformable. I wouldn’t do that often though…
