Now that Land Rover have pulled the plug on Defender production, your only hope of getting one is a used variety. Used or not, Defender by itself is not cheap and that’s not to mention stretching it to its potential is not something you can do everyday. Which is kind of a shame because, Defender is pretty much the king of off-roading. Period. However, for ‘just’ $449.95, you can get yourself a scale replica, complete with radio control goodness lent to it by a 2.4 GHz 4-channel TQi radio. With this scale version, called, TRAXXAS 1/10 Scale TRX-4 R/C Land Rover Defender, you need not sleep in your garage to stare at it all day long. You can just ‘drive’ it around whenever, wherever – even in your living. But of course, this thing is like the real-deal; it likes the great outdoor.
Bring it to the rocky terrains, it will gladly take it on, or if you like, it can even cross miniature rivers too. Yes. It totally can do that. Didn’t I told you it is like the real-deal, only smaller. Very much smaller. Innovative portal axles that provide it with enormous amount of ground clearance and eliminates chassis torque twist, waterproof electronics and powerful 21T Titan 550 motor paired with XL-5 HV ESC bestow it with capabilities to pull off the aforementioned. And, let me reiterate. It can totally ford waters and that, my friends, is pretty darn awesome. Those are not all. Staying true to the Land Rover Defender spirit, it even has lock differentials and the ability to switch between high and low range transmission right from the included transmitter. Holy shit.
Wrapping up the package is an authentically detailed Land Rover Defender body – complete with functional accessories like roof rack and even a fully functional spare tire. I am glad that my dream of owning a Land Rover Defender is not lost. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to brainstorm for reasons to explain to my Mrs why I need this miniature SUV that can take her anywhere in my life. Push forth for a few more looks, followed by a product video of it in action.
