AI is the current buzzword. It has gone beyond chat and search; it has arrived in smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S24 series and Meizu 21 Pro, and wearables like smart glasses, and now ring. But unlike traditional gadgets like smartphones and smart eyewear, AI-powered smart rings are more along the likes of Humane AI device and Rabbit R1. They are AI-first devices. Meaning, that AI is the backbone of it. Without it, it is just a dead weight.
Anyhoo, speaking of the ring, there is a new kid in the block called WIZPR RING from AI/deep learning technology company VTouch, Inc. These guys had brought along their AI-powered smart wearable ring to CES 2024 and it is now looking to get onto the market through crowdfunding on Kickstarter.
Billed as the world’s first smart wearable ring for private AI interaction, the WIZPR RING boasts a so-called advanced proximity recognition for wake word-free convenience. This means, you just speak to it without having to say any trigger words like Alexa and Siri. You don’t even need to be loud. All you have to do is whisper at it and hence the name WIZPR RING.
It will respond to you discreetly via your headphones. Oh wait, it does have a trigger word if you want to stay up to speed. Saying “What’s up” to the ring and it will fill you in on the latest like new text, upcoming appointments, et cetera.
The ring promises to offer seamless voice conversations and button-free interaction. Though it does have a tiny button that you use to do stuff like check incoming messages when it is not convenient to do it verbally. Apparently, it can send SOS alerts instantly too. However, I am not sure how this works.
WIZPR RING also touts integration with smart home control, allowing you to control your home smart devices, and finally, it has multiple AI support, including ChatGPT, Alexa, Bard, and more.
