Aside from the irresistibly adorable collab editions, we have not featured the Xiaomi Civi line of smartphones. But this time it has our attention even without any adorable collab because it has, for the first time in the history of the Civi line, gotten a Pro model and wait for it… Leica imaging.
The new Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro [CH] was announced last month with Leica as one of its key selling points. This gives fans who cannot afford flagship Xiaomi devices like the 14 series the opportunity to experience Leica imaging without breaking the bank. But more on the pricing in a bit.
The device is rocking a large, circular camera module as before, and on this camera module, it has a 50 MP Leica Professional Portrait Camera, a 50 MP Optics Summilux Lens camera, and a 12 MP super wide-angle camera. Right smack in the middle of the cameras and the lone flash is the LEICA branding. The 50 MP Summilux camera is the largest aperture in Civc history thus far and it is further bolstered by OIS technology.
While it does have flagship-level imaging, we cannot say for the chip. The Civi is never a flagship device. However, it is not too shabby – thanks to the “almost-flagship” Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Mobile Platform, and the fastest memories there are in the market: LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0.
Like its predecessor, it has a curved display. In this case, it is a 120 Hz 6.55” 1.5K AMOLED display that offers up to 240 Hz touch sampling rate and supports wet touch. The screen is also home to an in-display fingerprint sensor and is protected by Corning Gorilla Victus 2.
Other highlights include a dual-facing camera (a 32 MP 78° Beauty camera and a 32 MP 100° super wide-angle main camera), up to 4K 30 fps videoing, up to 1080p 120/240/960 fps slow-mo video recording, a 4,184 mm2 ring-style cooling surface, in-house developed Hyper T1 signal-boosting chip, dual stereo speakers, dual nano SIM, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, locations, and a 4,700 mAh battery with 67 W wired fast charging.
The Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro Smartphone is now available to buy in China with a starting price of 2,999 yuan [CH], which is around US$423 according to the current going rate. If anyone’s keeping tabs that’s 1,000 RMB (about US$138) less than the entry-level Xiaomi 14 Series smartphone.
