Not sure how we managed to miss this when it was named the Honoree recipient of the CES Innovation Awards 2017. Anywho, here it is, the Xiaomi Elvis Presley Atomic Player B612. Xiaomi Elvis Presley Atomic Player is a pocket-size Bluetooth speaker that’s a nod to the King of Rock with a design befitting the era of the King. My first impression was “wow”, followed by, “hey, this thing looks like it belongs to Fallout 76!” It really does.
It looks like a vintage vinyl record player look with a mix of a military vibe – thanks to the retro green colorway on its aluminum-zinc alloy, the obligatory chrome bars and a toggle switch, and a large volume dial with faint debossed markings. One of the bars is actually quick channel switch for quick selection from 12 music channels, facilitated by the companion app called OhPlay where you will find some awesome Elvis’ music. These services will be free for 3 months, according to the product page.
On the spec end, the driver within is not known. However, we do know that it uses Bluetooth 4.2 technology, recharges via a micro USB port and has a 400 mAh battery good for up to 7 hours of playback per full-charge. I guess when it is meant to be fun, the spec doesn’t really matter. Speaking of fun, the device comes in a colorful packaging and comes with a tiny carrying bag, a lanyard, and a braided USB cable, along with a couple documentation.
