Well, you heard the rumor and probably caught a glimpse of the top right corner notch of the supposed Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S. Well, it does not have the notch (thankfully!). Like the Mi Mix 2, the selfie camera is still at the bottom right. Aesthetically, the device has very subtle changes from its predecessor, but we can’t say the same for what’s under the hood. With Mi Mix 2S, it joins the handful of handsets that is driven by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform with the range-topping model sporting a whopping 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of storage.
But having the latest chipset, massive ram and storage are not the reasons why this latest iteration shines; it is the main shooter. It has an AI-powered dual camera system. Well, these days, it is all about AI isn’t it? So, it shouldn’t be big surprise. The dual camera, comprising of two 12MP cameras (a wide-angle, f1.8 lens and a telephoto lens, f2.4) earns it a DxOMark score (mobile) on par to that of iPhone X at 97 (however, it tops out with a DxOMark score of 101 for photos). But it is still no match for Huawei’s P20 Pro which tops the chart with a 109 DxOMark (mobile) score.
Other highlights include a 5.99-inch 18:9 FHD+ IPS display (2,160 x 1,080 pixels, 403ppi, USB Type-C, and a 3,400 mAh battery with wireless charging, support Quick Charge 3.0. Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S is open for pre-order in China now, priced at 3,299 yuan and up (about US$525 and up). You can get a better idea of the spec in the overview below.
