Porsche enthusiasts, you will want to take note of an upcoming RM Sotheby’s Taj Ma Garaj Collection because, it is going to be a Porsche galore. Over 30 rare and eclectic Porsche, with a few Volkswagen thrown for good measure, from the late John Dixon’s collection will be going under the hammer on September 28, 2019, onsite in Dayton, Ohio.
Man, late John Dixon sure has a lot of Porsche any man could have. But nothing tickled my fancy than this quirky Porsche, the 1953 Porsche 356 Limousine Custom. You heard that right. Not only it is a Porsche limo, but also one from the 50s. As noted by the official title, it is a custom ride. Here’s the official words on this delightful ride:
“A 1953 Porsche 356 Limousine Custom, chassis no. 50146, which is a fantastic illustration of John’s sense of humor and representative of some of the quirkier cars in the Collection. Built from several cars as John’s interpretation of a 1953 pre-A 356 Limousine for use in formal events, this car is one of a kind. Featuring air ride suspension, a cabin full of rare and early Porsche accessories, and more, it doesn’t get much more fun than this”
If anything, the 1953 Porsche 356 Limousine Custom should make for a quirky addition to any Porsche collectors, or just a fun ride to cruise around. Whether or not if you prefer to engage a chauffeur to get it around or you want get behind the wheel yourself is really up to you.
The 1953 Porsche 356 Limousine Custom, along with the rest of the collection, will be offered without reserve. This means it may just be the opportunity for petrolhead to bag a few prized item at a bargain. Maybe.
In addition to the 30 something cars are 350 plus lots of automobilia, collectibles, rare literature, engines and whatnot up for grab.
As for the 1953 Porsche 356 Limousine Custom, RM Sotheby’s estimated that it would fetch around $150,000-250,000. So, get your check book ready.
