how do you make a great ride even better? simple enough: give it a power bump, shed some weight and throw in some luxe features, and those are what the 2013 Land Rover Freelander 2 has received. the 2013 Freelander 2 is given a slight bump in power, along with several luxe features that are previously reserved for LRs higher on the food chain. under the hood now sits a smaller 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit that puts out 240 horses (179 kW) – 10 more over its predecessor’s larger unit and 340 Nm (250 lb-ft) of torque, mated to the same six-speed transmission with CommandShift for those who feel the need to fiddle with the stick. the increased in power and torque, though small, would certainly benefit the new wee lighter model. on the outside, the 2013 model receives a more contemporary front and rear lights with latest LED technology, a new signature graphic in the front running lights, all-new 17-inch alloy rolling stocks and three new color ways: Aintree Green, Havana and Mauritius Blue. moving on to the interior, expect to be greeted by a brand new console, a 825W Meridian surround sound system that includes of a 7-inch color touchscreen display with 17-speakers, and a 7-day timed climate system. other features include pushbutton start system that replaces the near-ancient key dock, a new ‘intelligent’ electric parking brake that adjusts the brake force in accordance to the slope the vehicle is parked on and a voice activation system with visual prompts, and rear view camera capability. all told, expect this new baby to bite a $37,250 chunk off your account and let’s remind ourselves that just for the base model. click through for a few more look.
