2019 LG TV Apple TV App and Apple TV+

Here’s a news dedicated to all TV junkies. If you love Apple’s very own streaming service, Apple TV+, you will be glad that Apple TV app and Apple TV+ is coming to 2019 LG TVs in the U.S. and 80+ other countries.

That’s in addition to the 2020 smart TVs with Apple TV app introduced at CES last month. Apple TV app has launched on compatible 2019 LG smart TVs and it can be easily accessed straight from the LG Home Launcher. Now, the question is, will you subscribe to Apple’s new video subscription service?

With the app, LG TV owners can, if so desired, subscribe to Apple TV channels, access their iTunes video library and buy or rent from a library of over 100,000 movies and TV shows. Needless to say, you can take advantage of Dolby Vision where available – if that’s what pique your interest.

Additionally, 2019 LG TVs also support Apple AirPlay 2, allowing you to share or mirror content from your iPhone, iPad or Mac on an LG TV. This also means you can play music on TV (why would anyone do that???) and sync it with other AirPlay 2 compatible speakers anywhere in the home.

And then there’s Apple HomeKit. With Apple HomeKit, you can control you TV with the Home app on your iPhone or iPad and also leverage on Siri to do things like turn the TV on/off, adjust volume, switch inputs and whatnot.

AirPlay 2 is and HomeKit is available on all of LG’s 2019 OLED TVs, series SM9X and SM8X NanoCell TVs and later this month, Apple TV app will roll out on series UM7X and UM6X UHD TVs.

2018 LG TVs are not being forgotten; supported models will get Apple TV app later this year through an over-the-air firmware upgrade.
