At which point a toy gun stops becoming a toy gun? I think I may have the answer. After seeing Flasutie’s video, I think perhaps it should be when it starts using propellant to put the projectile downrange.

The ‘25mm Revolver Hand Cannon’ by Flasutie is a huge custom NERF-style blaster that looks like Hellboy’s Good Samaritan. It uses real-life-like bullets with each massive bullet composed of a TPU bullet with a PLA base and a plastic cartridge.

Instead of gunpowder and a primer, the cartridge is filled with HHO gas serving as the propellant and has a pair of terminals for creating sparks.

HHO gas, also known as oxyhydrogen, is a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen gases obtained through the electrolysis of water, and it can explode when comes in contact with an open flame, including sparks.

For Flasutie’s application, the gas has a ratio of 2:1 hydrogen to oxygen and uses a spark that is produced by a small generator to trigger the explosion that will push the TPU/PLA bullet downrange.

It is a complex gun with a very cool working principle and a cool aesthetic to match. The result is a very powerful NERF blaster that you will not want to be on the receiving end.
