Apple TV Plus Masters of the Air Official Trailer

Have you ever watched Band of Brothers (2001, Playtone) and thought about those carrying out the battle in the air and what they had been through? Well, I do. A lot. If you do too, there is finally going to be a miniseries that details the fight in the skies over at the European theater.

From the minds behind acclaimed series like Band of Brothers and The Pacific emerges Masters of the Air, a gripping 9-part event set to premiere on January 26th on Apple TV+. Adapted from Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name and penned by John Orloff, Masters of the Air delves into the harrowing experiences of the 100th Bomb Group, known as the “Bloody Hundredth,” as they undertake perilous bombing missions over Nazi Germany.

Battling freezing conditions, oxygen shortages, and the intense fear of combat at 25,000 feet, the series digs into the psychological and emotional toll endured by these young men. Their contribution to dismantling Hitler’s regime exacted a heavy price – some were shot down, captured, wounded, or lost their lives, while others were fortunate to return home. Yet, each bore the weight of their experiences.

Featuring a stellar ensemble cast including Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, and Nate Mann in leading roles, the series also boasts talents like Raff Law, Barry Keoghan, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook, and Ncuti Gatwa.

I am excited but at the same time, I fear if it could hold a candle against 2010’s The Pacific and 2001’s Band of Brothers. We shall wait and see. Meanwhile, here’s the official trailer:
