Some people collect Barbie dolls and leave them untouched, unopened in their packaging. Others prefer to unbox them and play. Then there are the real fans who display them in various scenarios like a diorama, but only on a larger scale. Kartell, the Italian company specializing in contemporary plastic furniture, has scaled down some of its most iconic seats to Barbie scale so that the world’s most famous doll with a thing for pink can enjoy them too.
The Barbie x Kartell 5-Piece Doll-sized Chair Set includes five of Kartell’s best-loved chairs: Louis Ghost, Masters, A.I., Venice, and Ero|S|, all scaled down to Barbie doll size and in her signature shade of pink – PANTONE 219 C.
Before you green warriors scream in horror because more plastics have been utilized for such frivolous objects, you ought to know that these miniature chairs are made from 69% ISCC-Certified Bio-Based Plastic.
Moreover, the packaging components are 100% FSC recycled paper, with the material insert containing 20% wood pulp and 80% bamboo pulp, and are 100% recycled and recyclable. It won’t be 100% green, obviously, but it is a step in the right direction for sustainability without sacrificing life’s enjoyment.
Also included in the purchase is a Certificate of Authenticity.

To mark the partnership between Barbie and Kartell, the Milan-based furniture maker is producing one-of-a-kind full-size versions of all five chairs in Barbie’s PANTONE 219 C for the Salone del Mobile (April 16 to April 21, 2024) in Milan. I don’t believe you can buy those, though. But Kartell does have a bunch of Barbie collections for sale.
