Evangelion 3.0 + 1.11 Blu-ray and DVD

The concluding Evangelion film, the Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time will soon be available on a physical medium you can buy. The release is officially called Evangelion 3.0+1.11 Thrice Upon A Time. For those who are confused why the “1.11”, well, 1.11 was for this special release for the film’s two-year anniversary on March 08, 2023.

The film was released as 3.0+1.0 on March 08, 2021. A few months later, on June 12, 2021, an updated version of the film, designated 3.0+1.01 was released in Japanese theaters. I hope this will clear the air. I was confused and had to do some digging to understand what was going on.

Anywho, the Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time home media release was announced by Khara last month. The home media release will be available on March 08, 2023, to mark the film’s 2 year anniversary.

It is a limited edition release on Blu-ray and DVD and will include bonus materials like a copy of the script signed by Hideaki Anno, and a bonus feature short called Evangelion: 3.0 (-46h).

It is still available to watch on Prime Video, btw.

All told, there are three versions: the First Press Limited Edition in Blu-ray + 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, a regular version in a Blu-ray, or a DVD.

The First Press Limited Edition is a 3-disc set. Disc 1 is the main film, disc 2 is the bonus short “Evangelion: 3.0 (-46h)”, and a UHD disc with the movie. It will come packed in Digipak with special packaging, and the aforementioned signed script.

Meanwhile, the regular edition Blu-ray and DVD are 2-disc sets, each containing 2 Blu-ray or 2 DVDs. One disc is the main movie with the second disc containing the bonus short Evangelion: 3.0 (-46h). Both regular editions will also be presented in a digipak with special packaging.

The First Press Edition retails for 10,780 yen (about US$72.99) and the regular edition costs 8,580 yen (or around US$58.10). You can refer to this website for the list of retailers that are taking pre-orders.
