Google Chromecast with Google TV brings a wealth of entertainment to regular flat-screen TV for a reasonable price point. If US$49.99 is still a little steep for you, then you’d be glad that there’s a cheaper version, the Chromecast with Google TV (HD).
Chromecast with Google TV (HD) offers features from the 4K model – down to the aesthetics – at a significantly cheaper price of US$29.99. As before, it comes a with remote that supports Google Assistant but you can also navigate the menu and control the device using a smartphone too. While the resolution tops out at 1080p, it does have HDR support.
It is plug-and-play (obviously), requiring you to plug it into your flat screen’s TV HDMI port and connect it to your home’s WiFi network. Once set up, which should take just a few minutes, you will have access to a wealth of entertainment options, including Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Prime Video, YouTube, and even Apple TV+ – just to name a few.
Stadia gaming is supported too and so is casting compatible Android and iOS apps or mirroring your Chrome browser tabs.
