Holy mother of… I think hell froze over last week when PlayStation dropped the news that Halo is coming to PS5. Yes. That Halo. The most symbolic Xbox exclusive has crossed the great console divide. The Halo: Campaign Evolved, as it is called, marks the first time a Halo title is officially released on PlayStation.
For 25 years, Halo has been the crown jewel of Xbox exclusivity, and this jump represents more than just another port—it’s a tectonic shift that sends shockwaves through the industry. So, is Microsoft axing Xbox and sending Master Chief couch-surfing at Sony’s house? Maybe. Who knows.
Whatever’s going on behind closed boardroom doors, one thing’s for sure: this is not just a remaster. Halo: Campaign Evolved is a ground-up remake of the 2001 classic Halo: Combat Evolved, rebuilt with high-definition visuals, new cinematics, smoother controls, and sharper gunplay. The soundtrack and sound effects have been completely reengineered to match modern standards, so when you throw a plasma grenade, it’ll sound—and look—better than ever.
The remake includes nine additional weapons from across the Halo franchise and introduces three prequel missions starring Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson, adding new lore and gameplay before the original story kicks off. You can even hijack enemy vehicles now, including the Covenant’s Wraith tank. Oh, and yes—the Grunt birthday confetti Skull is still here, because some traditions deserve immortality.
The game supports two-player couch co-op and four-player online crossplay, letting PlayStation and Xbox gamers share the same battlefield for the first time since the console wars began.
