Transformers Optimus Prime has taken many forms. He has been a sassy lady, a boombox-carrying hipster, a Canon DSLR, a rubber ducky, and now, a football player. Hasbro and ZCWO – the same outfit behind the Stravelling Muzeum Mona Lisa – have partnered with the Fools Paradise design team to create one-of-a-kind designer figures based on Autobots leader, Optimus Prime.
From the listing, it looks like the League of Steel // Optimus Prime by Fools Paradise will not be the last. It is one of the one-of-a-kind designer figures to based on the Transformers franchise. In a post on Fools Paradise’s Facebook page, the toymaker confirms this with an image of other characters, including Megatron, Starscream, Bumblebee, and Soundwave.
The League of Steel // Optimus Prime, as it is called, is a significant figure because it is not just any parody figure; it is also an officially licensed product. Anyhoo, the League of Steel // Optimus Prime fuses Optimus Prime with elements of a football player.
League of Steel is being bulked up with football gear featuring upper chest protection in Optimus Prime truck window chest along with shoulder element with smoke stacks. His lower limbs feature a pair of football boots, complete with truck wheels and tires, with the cleats looking very much like dear old Prime’s feet.
Rounding up the look is a pair of gloves and a football accessory in traditional football color in addition to Optimus Prime’s red and blue colorway.
As before, the figure will be made of vinyl and PVC and stands around 410 mm (about 16 inches) tall.
The League of Steel // Optimus Prime by Fools Paradise is available for pre-order as we speak for US$350 plus US$80 for global shipping, with delivery approximately in Q4 2023.
