You may have known HMD, or Human Mobility Devices, for its Nokia phones. But you might not be aware that the Finnish mobile phone maker has evolved, taking on a life of its own. Yes, these folks are now making their own devices. They’ve just started, but it’s already making waves with ultra-affordable handsets, unique collaboration feature phones, and now, turning heads with the “Smart Outfit” collab based on their upcoming innovative device, the Fusion smartphone.

This isn’t your standard special edition. HMD’s Fusion smartphone is made to “fuse” with special modular Outfits, and what better way to demonstrate than with a Venom-inspired edition? In partnership with Venom: The Last Dance, HMD has developed three ultra-rare Venom Smart Outfits, complete with squirming black ferrofluid that mimics Venom’s symbiotic essence right on the back of the phone. You’ll hear Venom’s voice with every notification, from a grim “We are screwed” ringtone to a motivational “Eddie, I’m with you till the end” voicemail alert.
Now, here’s the thing. The outfits won’t be available for purchase—it was created to promote the third Venom movie that opened at the theaters on October 24. We heard it did not do well as compared to the first two films but anyway, fret not that you cannot buy it because you can still grab some official Venom wallpapers. Another consolation is that you can buy the regular Fusion smartphone for your customizing journey if you really want to.
Speaking of which… for those who want to customize their phone’s functionality, the Fusion’s modular design lets you swap out Smart Outfits to change both the look and features of your device. The HMD toolkit is open to the public, so if you’ve got a 3D printer and some know-how, you can design your custom Smart Outfits to make your Fusion phone truly one-of-a-kind.
The HMD Fusion is available for pre-order now. Outfits will be rolling out at the end of the year, with Smart Outfits arriving in 2025. Starting price? It’s US$299.99, or ¥55,800 in Japan.
