Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Durability Test

Since we reported the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip before, we felt obligated to let you in on something rather big with this device. Specifically with regards to the so-called Ultra Thin Glass or UTG for short.

So, the question is, is it possible to bend glass, however thin it may be? Well, the short answer appears to be, probably not. YouTuber JerryRigEverything, aka Zack Nelson, has put the new Galaxy Z Flip to the test.

He wanted to find the claim by Samsung that the screen is actually of glass. The result? Not glass. A glass should not scratch until level 6 or 7 of his scratch test, but sadly, the Galaxy Z Flip got scratched as low as level 2 which indicates that it might just very well be plastic and not glass as claimed.

So, what’s up with Samsung’s claim? About that… it boils down to marketing gimmick. Nelson thought it might be a hybrid of sort that combines plastic and pieces of glass. If that’s the case, it should not qualify it as ‘glass’ at all.

Anywho, if you are thinking of picking up the pricey Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and worry about durability, well then, I guess your worst fear have been confirmed. Though, it is worthy to mention that it is not without merits.
