A brick-built Batmobile Tumbler, be it the collector’s edition or the ones for the Batlings, is already so good that I think it can only be topped by an SNOT build. But for some reason, the folks over at LEGO think there should be a Technic version, and now we have this: LEGO Batman Batmobile Tumbler (42239). From the product images, it looks decent—not great. I think the only Batmobile, in the history of Batman, that looks great as a Technic set is the 2021 The Batman Batmobile. But that’s just me.

It feels like this set is for Technic completionists and Batmobile completionists—not someone who appreciates replicas. That’s not to say this is completely unnecessary for Bat fans. It is the set if you ever want to realize getting behind the wheel of the legendary Tumbler because the 42239 is a remote-control toy car, too. Powered by the CONTROL+ app, kids (or you) can operate the steering and control the lights. That’s right. The latter is also a reason why this set should be in your Batmobile garage.
Special mentions include the jet engine function that delivers a speed boost—complete with a light-up afterburner, realistic movements, and mechanisms that introduce the world of engineering to kids, and it comes with a rechargeable battery. However, the USB-C cable required for charging is not included, which is a shame because this set ain’t cheap.
The 719-piece LEGO Batman Batmobile Tumbler (42239) set commands a hefty US$189.99 when it becomes available starting August 01, 2026. This works out to be a very steep 0.26 cents per piece. Granted, it is an RC toy and comes with lights as standard, but it is considered fairly steep for what it is. I mean, seriously, a Technic Tumbler?
When completed, the model measures 31 cm long, 17 cm wide, and 11 cm high, which is about 12 inches by 6.5 inches by 4 inches, for the imperialists.
